responsible, experienced show breeder...call me for info
Breed: Dachshund | Member Since 12/4/2007
I have screened my adults for various health concerns in our breed over the years. Most of the time, I do health screening prior to finishing AKC championships and ever breeding these dogs. I have tested some of my dogs with Dr. Jean Dodds, in Garden Grove, for Von Willebrand's Disease and thyroid, to rule out any genetic concerns. Other champions have had full blood panels at my regular vet, to screen for any potential problems prior to breeding a litter.
Five of my younger dogs, of whom two have never been bred, have current CERF registration certificates on file with Canine Eye Registration Foundation through April, 2012. I do annual health clearances on my dogs, as recommended by the Dachshund Club of America.
I use the Modified Vaccine Protocol with my dogs and strongly recommend new owners continue this protocol. I feed only top quality food and offer my own dogs an indoor, dachshund-friendly environment. I expect the same for any puppy that leaves my home.
If I sell a puppy and your vet discovers any concern, even though my own vet carefully checks my puppies, I offer a FULL cash refund within the first two weeks. Other breeders offer you a "replacement puppy" from a "future breeding." I don't work that way. I think that is pretty shady to not give a refund, under those circumstances. I actually give you your money back, as long as I get the puppy brought back to me within that two week time frame. Contact me for more information. I do screen very carefully, because I offer such a generous money back guarantee. Only had one person ever take me up on it...they discovered they had "allergies" to the puppy a week after the puppy came home...but I was glad to get her back. Better to get her back immediately than to doom her to a life with people who were not ready for the responsibility of a puppy....Obviously, I also take back any dog back, at any point in its life, without money back, of course, but this is an unconditional, anytime policy. Any decent breeder will take back a dog of their own breeding, at any time in its life.
I have pet owners that come back to me years later for their second or even third companion dachshund. I actually have someone on my wait list right now for a fourth dog from me :) I'm here for the long run and offer support for the entire life of your dog.
