My pet puppies are sold ONLY with a spay/neuter contract, which is what the Dachshund Club of America requests of all responsible breeders. I will take back a dachshund of my breeding at ANY time in its life, for any reason whatsoever.
I also offer a two week FULL REFUND "satisfaction guarantee," to make sure any puppy that leaves me is securely in its forever home. It is important enough to me that any puppy leaves me is in its ideal forever home that I care enough to offer this. If it is not working out in the first two weeks, for any reason, even if it is a matter of personality conflict between owner and puppy, I would rather give you a refund than have a puppy not in an ideal situation. This is a stubborn breed, and it is important to have a good match between owner and puppy, since this is a lifetime commitment. Pretty much no one else will offer a refund, and other breeders will even try to offer you a replacement puppy from a "future breeding," even if there is a health concern with a puppy already purchased, but I don't work that way. I'm here for the long run. I have had pet owners come back to me years later for their second or even third companion dachshund. I offer support during the lifetime of your dog and enjoy hearing from pet owners. Keep that in mind, when screening breeders.
Big red flags, when evaluating breeders, are when breeders do not require spay/neuter contracts for pets (this goes against the Dachshund Club of America recommendation for breeders) and when breeders sell all of their puppies before birth or at very young ages.
