POND HOLLOW GUARANTEE

General Terms - The above named dog is guaranteed to be in general good health and free of communicable diseases*. Buyer agrees to have a vet of their choice examine the dog within 72 hrs.of purchase. If any problems are detected in this exam, the dog may be returned for a full refund including shipping costs to return to seller. Bills for minor & transitory health problems detected in this initial exam will be paid by seller upon copy of a receipt from examining vet and limited to $150. This only applies to dogs the buyer wishes to keep. Buyer is responsible for the initial visit costs and any immunization shots or worming, if given at that visit. Dogs examined beyond the 72 hr. limit are not covered under the above terms except at seller's option. * Limited to within 10 days of purchase. Should the dog become ill with a communicable disease within the 10 days, seller's liability is limited to 1/2 the purchase price of the dog or the vet bill, which ever is less.
The above named dog is also guaranteed for freedom from hip dysplasia & freedom from PRA (progressive retinal atrophy) or inherited cataracts (up to age 6). Evidence of affectation must be provided to the seller. Any dog registered without the POND HOLLOW prefix is not covered by this or any type of guarantee. All affected animals must either be neutered or put down before a replacement or partial refund is given. All registration papers must be signed over and returned to seller. If the seller requests, the dog must be returned to her. A copy of death certificate must be sent, if applicable. The buyer has several options if they wish to keep a dog that is affected: they can choose whether they wish a partial refund or a replacement in lieu of the refund. Upon receipt of a certification of neuter/spay or papers, a partial refund of $300 will then be made to buyer instead of a replacement animal. Or, the buyer may choose to forfeit a partial refund, retain the affected animal and be given a replacement for the affected dog. The affected dog must be neutered as noted above. All shipping costs to the buyer for a replacement dog are paid by the buyer. A refund of full original purchase price in lieu of a replacement is at the seller's option only. Affected dogs who meet replacement requirements will be replaced with another of equal quality as soon as it is possible. All x-rays must be taken by 26 mos. of age. This guarantee is not transferable should the dog be sold by the above listed owner. Replacement dogs are not guaranteed beyond the first paragraph of the general terms section. If buyer decides they wish a show quality pup as a replacement for a companion quality pup, the difference between the buyer’s initial purchase price and current show puppy price will be due. Any dog used for breeding prior to hip and eye check certification will not be replaced if later diagnosed as affected.
Hips While the parents are certified free of hip dysplasia, this does not mean that hip dysplasia cannot occur in the offspring. The problem is 50% inherited factors and 50% environmental. Please keep the dog in a lean condition when growing. Seller is not responsible for hips if the dog was in any accident, had a self- inflicted injury, had stifle injuries, or was kept in an overweight condition. We do not recommend playing Frisbee with a Chesapeake. They are too big and heavy for that. A copy of a properly positioned x ray & general health record (including periodic weight of the dog) must be provided to the seller before any replacement is considered. The seller has the right to request a second x ray and/or obtain a second opinion on the x ray. On questionable preliminary x rays (9 mos. or older) the owner agrees to re x ray in 6 months before any replacement is made. All submissions to OFA and all x ray costs are paid by the owner. OFA x-rays must be taken by 26 mos. All requests for replacements must be made by 30 mos.
Eyes Guarantee covers until age 6 (72 mos.). The diagnosis must be made by an AVCO veterinarian. A copy of the Vet's report must be sent to the seller. The seller has the right to request a second exam by another vet. If the opinions disagree, the final diagnosis will be that of Dr. Aguirre of the University of Pa. All eye examination fees are paid by the owner.
Other- Any replacement or refund for other health conditions besides those listed above will be at the seller’s option. The dogs used for breeding are healthy but many problems are multi-gene factored and environmentally influenced. Dogs returned for other than health related issues are not replaced or refunded. Seller will attempt to place the dog and any monies received less cost of care and advertising (if any) will be deducted from those monies. No dog will be accepted unless registration papers and health records accompany the dog.
