These dogs, while they may be a hunting breed, they are good with non- canine animals such as cats. Being naturally submissive they MUST be socialized at a young age, with people AND other dogs, and if possible, non-canine animals such as cats.

They are a rare breed and hard to find.Any dog that barks is a watch dog. Sussex spaniels are glelraney not suitable for protection training.They tend to be friendly dogs and good with kids.
