Tapfern Kennel
Although all breeding stock is tested for genetic problems in an effort to produce healthy puppies, in spite of precaution sometimes an idividual will have health issues. For specific testing results and certification for my dogs see my website. The following information provides my policy addressing health related issues that may arise.
All puppies are guaranteed healthy when they leave for their new homes. Buyer has 72 hours to take puppy to their veterinarian to verify puppy's health. If any health issues are discovered puppy maybe returned to Breeder and a full refund will be given to Buyer once puppy and all appropriate paperwork has been received.
Breeder guarantees puppy to be clear of any serious genetic defects for 2 years. All Cavaliers are supseptible to Mitral Valve Disease, MVD at some point in their life. It is a genetic disease that is in the Cavalier gene pool. However minor heart murmurs can be treated with medication and your companion can live a normal life span, usually 10 to 15 years.
Should any your puppy develop any life threatening generic disease, the Breeder will give you the option of a refund or another puppy.
Puppies purchased for show/breeding must be certified with appropriate specialist or organization for eyes and heart yearly, and OFA hips and patella at age of two years. Copies of health certifications must be provided to the Breeder.
If puppy does not test clear Breeder will refund difference between show and pet quality puppy after puppy has been spayed/neutered, or replacement show puppy will be offered at a reduced pet price if Buyer opts to keep original puppy.
