If you get a puppy and not an adult dachshund. It will grow up with the cat, but sometimes it might depend on the cat, cause he is 10+ and my not want to be bothered.

If the puppy is raised with the cat it will grow to love it like part of a family. But, Dachshunds were bred to dig out animals that have burrowed in the ground. They do not get along with anything that looks like a burrowing animal, for example: rats, squirrels, hamsters, and so on.
