A Visitor asked the following question on 5/25/2007
Our male(B&T)dachshund and our female(red) have one dapple grandparent on each side. Is it possible that the white spot on the puppies chest is a result of those genes?

5/25/07 Yes and no. How large of a spot is it on the chest? Sharon

6/29/07 No. Dapple is a dominant gene and a dog has to show it to produce it. A white spot on the chest of varying size is a mismark (doesn't mean it's bad) and doesn't usually have anything to do with patterns. It's acceptable but not desirable within the standard of the Dachshund. Dawn-Renée
