A Visitor asked the following question on 4/17/2007
We are breeding a red smooth dog that's father was a smooth dapple and mother was red smooth. He has VERY slight markings on his back but is mostly red. We are breeding him with a black and tan long-haired - both of her parents were black and tan smooth. The female must have had a recessive gene for long-hair somewhere. What colors and hair types do you think we might get?

4/19/07 You have a good chance of getting reds and blk and tans. If the sire has even the slightest markings on his back they may be dapple and then he should of been registered as such. The only way you can get dapple is if one of the parents is a dapple. So if you have dapple pups you know that those 'markings' are indead dappling. If you send me a picture I can give you a second opinion with a few of my handler friends. The majority if not all your pups will probably be smooth. Heather
