I have 5 miniature daschund puppies (now a week old.)When do I begin weaning them? and how? and what do I give them?

Around 3-4 weeks (when they start getting teeth), the mother will usually begin the weaning process. In the case the mother doesn't, you just separate her from them. As their milk intake reduces, their regular food increase should sustitute. If you have to wean yourself, you can remove the mom during the day, give them dog food, and let her spend evenings, nights, and early mornings (through breakfast) with them.
