my son has a male american bull terrior and more recently a female. the female is about 8 months old and went into heat a few days ago in which yesterday she was spayed. the male dog whines for her day and nioght and has done so for the last five days. how long does it normally take for him to stop wanting her. will he automatically quick smelling the scent she put off. he is driving us nuts and i feel sorry for him. I admit to not knowing anything about this., is there something they make you can give them to stop this? thanks

He may want to try for a few weeks. After she growls and protests a bit, he will quit. But he will try on and off again. You need to neuter the male if you want to cease his urges. I hope this helps.
