i have a 6 year old female mini and have just found the perfect male. she is in excellent health and has regular heat cycles,is she too old?

Depends on several factors. A young male will be very fertile, and produce several puppies. This may be difficult since she has never had any and not know what to do. If you are interested, use a vet. Without one can result in the death of mother and pups. Younger bitches do not have their hip bones fused yet. The puppy are very small, but consult a doctor.
