I have a short hair red dachschund female and would like to breed to a red long hair male.. (He is 1 yr.) is that okay? What would the babies normally turn out to be long/short or a mix

They would more than likely all be red. You really have to know if the short hair carries the long hair gene to be more sure of what you will get. My research shows that you would get all smooth carrying long hair, 50% smooth carrying long hair and 50% long hair, 25% smooth, 50% smooth carrying long hair, or 25% long hair.
