My dachshunds are not regular in their heat patterns. They seem to come between 5 and 7 months. Is this common?

My females usually have their first heat cycle at the age of 10 months. Then they have them once a year after that. Some dachshunds have heat cycles twice a year, some have them once a year. I have been told by Vets and irregular heat cycles are normal for any hound.
