Courage
All Courage dogs are health tested for Hips, Elbows, as well as we recommend and test ourselves for congenital defects in Heart, Eyes and Thyroid. To search each individual dog, type in the search engine the name of the dog (it can be partial) and the breed at the individual health sites, OFFA, CERF, & CHIC for results.
While we do OFA testing, we believe and encourage Pennhip evaluations as they can be done at a much earlier age. "PennHIP uses a unique method, an index, to measure hip joint laxity. The method is quantitative (i.e., it assigns a number to joint laxity) as opposed to being qualitative or subjective (e.g. excellent, good, fair, etc.). The index is not as vulnerable to inter- and intra-observer errors commonly associated with subjective measurement systems." It is a measurement that is valid the life of the animal, (barring serious injury). Their site for information is www.pennhip.org. It is not subjective, but rather a precise measurement that is also breed specific.
