Thistledown Akitas, in central Indiana, has been home to akitas since 1993. The breed has earned my total respect for its devotion, intelligence and elegance. Much more than pets to me, they are cherished members of the family. My line has proved to be long-lived and unusually gentle, making them wonderful therapy dogs. One is my own service dog, assisting me in overcoming multiple schlerosis. I breed only occasionally, and only to improve the line. Companion puppies are sold on spay/neuter contracts, are fully vaccinated, vet checked and socialized with children and adults. A health guarantee is included with puppy packets. My involvement with showing Irish wolfhounds has limited showing the akitas as well, but we have become more active in the show ring, starting with a group 4 win in a puppy match. From the show ring and obedience training, to visiting schools, scouts and the elderly, Thistledown akitas are loved by many. References are available and required from potential owners.
