Chekia puppies are bred, raised, and placed with great care. We appreciate your commitment to the life-long care of your new puppy, and we expect that you will appreciate our commitment to responsibly place the puppies we breed. Please answer the following questions as thoroughly and honestly as possible, to help insure that the puppy you adopt will be the one best suited to your lifestyle.

Are you familliar with alternative health care and "natural rearing" methods, and are you comfortable with the prospect of following thru with this type of health care for your puppy?
Do you understand the concept of "minimal vaccines", and are you comfortable with the idea of having a dog that you will not be vaccinating regularly?
Have you ever had this breed of dog before? If so, please tell me about him or her.
Do you have other pets in your household now? If so, please tell me about them.
Please tell me a bit about your home environment. What are the daily schedules of your household members, and how will a puppy fit in to those schedules? Are you retired, do you work from home? Are there children in the home, and if so, what are their ages and experience with animals?
Do you want a dog who will grow up to live primarily in your house, primarily outside, or both equally?
Where do you intend for your dog to sleep? Are there areas of your home, inside or outside, that will be "off limits" to your dog? Can you explain?
Most people want a dog for companionship. What, besides that, are you hoping that your dog will come to provide for you? Will you be disappointed if your dog does not come to fulfill ceratin expectations? Which ones?
Can you forsee a situation or circumstance that would cause you to give up your dog at some point? If so, please explain. (Note that if this should happen, you will be required by contract to return your dog to Chekia.)
Do you plan to attend a training class of any kind with your puppy? What type of training methods are you familliar with and what type are you comfortable with?
Do you own your home or rent? If you rent, do you have written permission from your landlord to have a dog, and what would you do if you were forced to move and could not find a rental that accepts dogs?
Do you have a fenced yard? If so, please explain the type of fencing, height, types of gates and latches, and size of fenced area. If not, please explain how you intend to see that your dog is asequately exercised, and what his "potty schedule" will be.
What are your expectations regarding the grooming requirements of this breed, and how do you intend to care for these?
What are your expectations as to the training requirements of a puppy, and how do you plan to address them?
Do you have particular requirements regarding the sex of your puppy, age, colour and coat variety (for Collies) or size (for Eskies) and are you flexible on these choices? Note: We do not allow puppies to leave here at less than 13 weeks of age.
Are you able to provide a reference from a veterinarian, dog trainer, boarding facility, groomer, other breeder from whom you adopted a puppy in the past, or neighbors?
If you adopt a puppy from Chekia, are you prepared for and comfortable with the idea of keeping in touch with us for the lifetime of this puppy?
Most people who inquire about a puppy state that they want "just a pet". People have different ideas as to what this means, tho. If what you are looking for is "just a pet", can you tell me specifically what that means to you?
