The Captain's Kennels
TERMS OF SALE AND GUARANTEE
Your Captain's Kennels puppy comes with a 30 month "guarantee" against hereditary hip and elbow dysplasia, retinal dysplasia, and PRA (progressive retinal atrophy). Although none of us can truly guarantee that a pup will not be afflicted with hip dysplasia, Progressive Retinal Atrophy or other hereditary diseases, we can guarantee that we have bred only sound dogs and have researched the pedigrees to the best of our abilities.
Your Captain's Kennels puppy is eligible for American Kennel Cub ("AKC") registration, and we will provide you with the AKC registration forms needed to register your pup. It is up to you to submit the forms to the AKC in a timely manner for the purposes of registration. Upon receipt of the puppy, s/he will be eligible for AKC Limited Registration. What this means is that s/he will be registered as purebred and be eligible to compete in AKC events (with the exception of conformation), including but not limited to obedience trials, hunt tests, agility, etc. S/he WILL NOT be eligible for breeding with limited registration.
If you are interested in using your dog for breeding the following conditions must be met. Note that only after ALL of these conditions are met will we provide paperwork for change in status to full registration:

1) The dog must have reached age 24 mos. or older, AND

2) Proof of OFA Hip and Elbow Clearances (passing results) are submitted to us AND

3) Proof of CERF Eye Clearance dated within 6 mos. of the request is submitted AND

4) 4) The dog must have earned at least one AKC or CKC title which will appear on the pedigree (I.E. CD, JH, etc.). Note that WC, therapy dog certificates, and CGC certificates are not considered titles, as they do not appear on the AKC or CKC pedigrees).

We recommend (but do not require) that you, as the new puppy owner, take the newly arrived puppy to your veterinarian within three (3) working days of receipt of the pup for a "well puppy" check-up to make sure the pup is healthy and sound at the time you receive the pup. If the pup is found to be unsound or unhealthy at the time of arrival, the pup can be returned at your expense with a written explanation from your veterinarian along with paperwork for a full refund. Any and all veterinary fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

In the event that your pup / dog is diagnosed with one of the hereditary conditions outlined above, The Captain's Kennel's guarantee (of a full or partial refund will be honored when the following conditions have been met:
