I have a question. I have a female that has all her health clearances, we have been breeding for approx 20 years so I am not new to this and have a very good breeding program. She just had her 2nd litter and she is growling at the pups. We have never had any issues like this happen in all the years we have been doing this. Any ideas. I have talked to one of our vets and they suggested giving Rimydal as maybe she is uncomfortable with her milk coming in. Any information you can provide would be great.

No way i would give her Rimydal....that would possibly come thro in the milk.

Not sure what her issue might be. Perhaps with time she will get used to them?

Just an FYI, I talked to my mentor and she said it is a pre-eclampsic issue. So we gave her a shot of Calcium and she has stopped. Sometimes they get a little psycosis going. Crazy! Anyway the growling has stopped. Hopefully this will help anyone else who may ever have this dilema!!

This happened once with one of our moms. It was due to mastitis. Our girl only had it in one mammory gland and it wasn't obvious. No notable swelling or heat. We found it by checking the flow of milk from each teat. The infected one's milk was thick and creamy looking. But again, little heat and really no swelling. She was treated for mastitis: hot packs, antibiotics, and we kept that teat covered when she was nursing. That stopped the growling

Thanks!! We found it was pre-eclamsic issues. Gave her a shot of Calcium and she is good again.
