How do I know if my Yorkie is pregnant? She has shown some of the signs. She's been sleeping more, possessive with her toys, wants more attention, swollen nipples, and swollen abdominal for the first 34 days. At her 35th day, her abdominal area has shrunk considerably, but everything else has stayed consistent.

Is this normal or is it possible that she was never pregnant and was just showing the signs?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Have you ever considered asking a vet.

They are highly trained in such things. Ultrasound, xrays, etc.

She is under a vets care and has an appointment on March 16th for an X-ray. I was just curious if anyone has experienced the same thing.

and this is not my first time breeding.

OMG serena to the point..

Well if you have bred bred before.. Then how do you not know how to determine prenancy? how are you not aware that dogs can have false pregnancies and yes FAIL or abort part of all of a litter at anytime..

Pretty easy and BASIC breeding stuff and information..

BTW most good experienced vets and some breeders can palpate dogs esp small dogs as early a 3 weeks.. or you can ultrasound.. Vs waiting till the pups are old enough to show up on a x-ray.. although a x-ray is a good idea to get a count and asses size of the pups and litter.. By Waiting till that long you may never know if she was pregant, lost some pups, failed to concieve if it turns out she has no puppies on the x-ray.. Kinda important to know in a breeding bitch..
Just a thought...
