You find a dog that is not your's and you keep them with you till the one who is the owner shows-up, No one ever comes. I want to know what you would do, I have the sweetest little dog that I would be dieing if I lost her if she was mine, No one is looking for her and I don't know what to do, I need feed-Back People. you take the dog to the vet to see if they have a microchip. Then you check all the shelters to see if anyone has reported a missing dog that matches.

You check the limit on how long the shelter will hold a dog in your area, before listing it for adoption. usually its about 7 days.

After that time, it is YOUR dog to do with as you will.

You could also go to your local craigslist pets section and give a description of the dog, and see if anyone there has a Lost Dog ad. I've seen numerous ones in our area CL.

You could contact the local rescue groups and see if they have Lost/Found sites to post a pic, put an ad in the local newspaper in the Lost/Found section, and check it regularly to see if someone has posted any Lost ads anywhere like that. Found signs up in the area for an owner to see might also help find the owner. If they've gone on vacation for a week and have an irresponsible housesitter they might not even know their dog is missing yet.
