A Visitor asked the following question on 5/9/2004
i have a 5 month old male and 2 females that will soon go into their second heat this fall. will he be old enough or is it best for me to wait till he is over a year. im getting mixed info on this subject and i want to make sure im doing the right thing.

7/22/04 Honey, I've got a six month old puppy who's fathered his first litter without permission. Nature determines when they're capable, because they won't succeed in the process of locking up otherwise. Wait until six-seven months if you're neutering him, but breeding will come (or not). He'll spray more when breeder, and earlier if he's breeding earlier. Kate

11/14/04 IT DEPENDS ON THE BREED.SOME OF THE PUREBRED DOGS MATURE EARLY.I SUGJEST YOU INVEST IN A GOOD DOG BOOK ON BREEDING. JOIN A BREED CLUB.THERE IS ALOT MORE TO "BREEDING DOGS "THEN JUST PUTING 2 DOGS TOGETHER.RESPONCEABLE & ETHICS SHOULD BE IN A BREEDING PROGRAM. &TO BREED FOR THE "STANDERD IN THE BREED YOU CHOOSE. 11/15/04 AS PER YOURE QUESTION IS HE OLD ENOUGH I BELIEVE THE SIRE HAS TO BE 7M0 OLD ON THE DATE OF THE MATING. THE DAM 8MO ON THE DATE OF MATING ACCORDING TO AKC. TO BE SURE LOG ONTO akc.org to make sure. Carol
