A Visitor asked the following question on 9/16/2004
What is the appropriate age to purchase & bring home a Shih Tzu puppy? I live in the state Florida. The Vet inform me that it is against the law for a breeder to sale a puppy under 8 weeks of age. If that is true, where can I get information regarding the legallity of purchasing & bringing home a puppy at a suitable age?

10/23/04 In most states it is against the law to place a puppy prior to 8 weeks of age. The American Shih Tzu Club suggest 12 weeks. Christina
