9/16/05 How old are your dogs? Are they spayed and neutered? If they are still puppies, 6 months or younger, yes it is common for them to play rough at times and on occassion to bite to hard. As far as drawing blood, I usually don't see that in the Shih Tzu breed. So I would say that is definitely not normal. As to what to do you really need to understand the thinking process of dogs. Anytime you have more than one dog in their minds they are now a pack, and as tame as we have made our dogs they still have some wild instincts that just won't go away. One will become what is known as the pack leader, usually that dog is the more aggressive dog. They keep the pack in line, in a way they are the parent dog. They eat first and then when finished they allow the rest of the pack to eat, just as in the wild. Now in my house we have our oldest, Miss Maric, she is the pack leader or what is commonly referred to as the alpha dog. The number one dog, I allow her to maintain that role because it is just Pam
