A Visitor asked the following question on 10/3/2005
Our SCWT regular either scratches his ears and parts of his body. He sometimes chews on his feet as well as chews where he has scratched. Our Vet said he was alergic to our cat. He is now on weekly shots. What other causes could this be from and remedies?

10/4/05 Hello, I am a family breeder of SCWT. I am not a vet, so take these suggestions as that, suggestions. I would be more suspicious of a food allergy. Have you tried switching foods? Look on the ingredients for a high protien meat based food. Many foods are corn or rice based. We feed our animals Strongpoint hi-pro. This is not a national brand, and may be hard to find, but the key is to find a meat based food. Also, I would consider a second opinion from another vet, and don't tell him what the first vet said. I may be being cynical, but weekly shots spell job security for a vet. As funny as it may sound, garlic is a great immune system builder. Try giving your dog a clove of minced garlic with its food. This can also help with skin parasites like fleas and ticks I hope this helps. Best regards, Troy Dumont Down Home Kennel Troy
