I recently had to put one of my huskies down because of cancer, she was only 10. I have another one who's 11. How long should I wait till I get another husky? Will bringing a puppy into the house with my older one be torture for her or a welcome change?

11/11/07 I believe it all depends on the personality of your siberian. If you feel that she is mourning the loss of her buddy a new friend would probably be very welcome. But if she was the jealous type that is happier alone it might not work out. I guess it is a decision that you will know the answer to. Siberians are a pack animal and usually prefer to be with others. Laura www.freewebs.com/nikerbees Laura

11/30/07 We had a brother and sister pair of Huskies. We lost the female, and noticed the Male seemed very sad, within one month we had a new Husky (around the same age) and almost immediately he cheered up. I agree with the other person however, that it really depends on your Husky, but Huskies generally prefer the company of another Husky to be able to play with. Clay

8/9/08 I wouldnt bring a pup in on a sick adult. The pup might get sick from her. At any case I wouldn't want her around the sick dog. Shirley
