A Visitor asked the following question on 5/15/2005
I bought a rock a few years back and I was real careful how I raised him, I mean I never ever raised my hand to him nor would I let anyone else miss treat him. My wife and I spent a lot of time with him and things were going great with him. He WAS PART OF THE FAMILY. Then with no warning he tried to bite my neighbor so I started watching him real close . One morning for no reason he growled at me and the next week he tried to bite me. I was afraid I would come home one day and see my wife hurt or even worse because he was so strong. He wasn't sick in any way .....he just turned Mean and I say no other way but to have him put down. Could someone explain to me what they think might have happened. My wife thinks maybe he was inbread. Please concact me by e-mail @ bkhawkins@aol.com if you can maybe help us understand what happened . we want another rock but are afraid it might happen again Thanks , Keith Hawkins

3/23/10 I can only assume you mean that you purchased a Rottweiler, not a rock to place in your garden. Socialization is extremely important in this breed. The temperament of a puppy is well set by 16 weeks of age. Between 5 and 15 weeks is optimal time to socialize and start the foundation of good obedience. If you bought a "rock", perhaps it didn't like the location you chose for it. Maybe next time a place with a bit more sun would be better. Dawn
