My puppy is 6 months of age, he's been hiking his leg and marking his territory. He's been around another dam in heat and he did try to ride her. Is he ready? I was told that he was too young and the offspring would die or be body parts in the wrong areas!

2/2/05 Your Male must be at least 7 months of age to be able to register the puppies with AKC. It is best to wait until they are around 1 year due to the fact that their sperm may not be fully developed. Kimberly

8/11/05 I would wait until he was atleast 18 months. Give his mind time to mature, and when you do breed him, especially if you haven't bred before, I would suggest breeding him to an expierinced female....Also always require a negative brucellosis. Analise
