How can you keep the area around the eye clean so that the maltese does not start to get the brownish staining around the eye

I use a wash cloth daily to clense around the eyes. Make sure you check for stray hairs in the eyes and rims. Most of time stains appear during teething and if there is a an ear infection. I also have noticed bad water plays a large part in
staining.
