A Visitor asked the following question on 3/1/2005
Recently my lhasa, buddy love, has been staring at and attacking the rugs and couch in my home. It's almost like he is seeing things. His behavior, other than this, is quite normal. He does not have seizures, eats well, and is generally very healthy. He will be 3 in July. Any reason that he might be doing this?

3/3/05 Interesting I have never heard of that before. Does your dog act as though he is playing,or biting the rug in a playful manner? He must have his reasons for doing it.? The only advice I could give would be to call an animal behaviorist. Maybe there is something on the rug or couch he does not like? An insect perhaps Wish I could help you out. Dea

4/27/06 Any new signs/symptoms? Often wierd attack behaviors (objects, people, mail carriers, cars) are inadvertently reinforced when people run into the room and yell at the dog...this actually seems like back-up-barking to the pet!!!! Reverse psych would go more like calmly entering the room, gently inspecting the couch/rug and soothing the FURNITURE--not the dog!! Intact males have also been known to redirect their energy in strange ways: watch your own behavior in response to these episodes and neuter the little fellow, if you haven't already. Don't breed dogs which show aberant behaviors. Genie

4/3/07 Buddy Love may also be having problems with his vision. Many dogs that are losing their vision will "stare" or attack inanimate objects. Be sure to have his eyes checked by your vet. Charla
