If it's hot and dry, yes probably. Your best bet is to buy the book, "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook". It doesn't take the place of a fabulous vet, but it will calm your fears about not knowing what to do, or how to do it, until you get there. It teaches you things like, "How to take your dogs temperature." (Which would be helpful in this situation!)
