How old does my lab have to be to start breeding her according to AKC guidelines?

Your Female should be a min. of 2 years in age. Vets say heat closest to the 2 B-Day either before or after. However she should be 2 first and then the next heat. That way you help to prevent problems for your dog. She needs to be fully developed internally. Both sexes actually, when planning to get their OFA or OFE Certifications.
