i have a golden female who had two previous litters out of a black labrador could i breed her with a male golden from her first litter she is four he is two and the black male who is no relation is nine.

9/30/07 What you are proposing to do is often known as line breeding or in-breeding. It really isn't a good idea, although it can bring out positive traits among the family line it also amplifies poor traits that you don't want to reproduce. Genetics is a tricky and difficult thing and it's really best not to take your chances. There are plenty of studs out there from quality breeders, try looking into using another male. If you are worried about cost talk to breeders about trading pick of the litter for a stud and most breeders are willing to provide tips or advice. Good luck with your breeding. Donald
