Italian Greyhound Questions

A Visitor asked the following question on 1/16/2005
We have a 10 year old terrier mix that loves to snuggle, but doesn't play with our 3 1/2 year old and 6 1/2 year old children. Since our dog does get along with other dogs, we are considering another dog...more playful, to interact with our children. However, my husband has allergies, so we need a breed that will fit these needs. Would an Italian greyhound be a good fit for us? A Whippet? We have always had mutts, so we are not sure where to start. Thanks for any advice you may have!

3/18/05 IGs are actually very good choices for many people who suffer from alergies. They have a very short coat, and don't shed mutch at all, and have very little dander, so usually don't bother allergies where most dogs will. I'd be happy to talk to you further about them, and my experiences... you can e-mail me at Mail@abouttimeacres.com or check out the information on my website at www.IGPups.com Laura Laura

12/6/06 Visit the breed and meet them in person. Italian Greyhounds are definitly not everyone's cup of tea. This way your husband can see if he has an allergic reaction and you firsthand can see them interact with your children. Shirley
