Is it healthy for a dog like this to be kept in a tiny cage and only get taken out every couple of weeks?

Absolutely Not ! Pyrs are very social dogs and Love attention. They are low-key dogs, but love to be around people. The dog should hav enough room to turn around,lie down and stretch out if they will be crated during away hours.
