9/19/05 Hi, The Hip is very important as this is where Hip Dysplasia can be that is why German Shepherds and some other large breeds are X-Rayed for it. It is Hereditary and that means it can be carried through from father to offspring or mother to offspring. The HIP is where the leg joins the pelvis, and should fit snuggly into the socket. The ball on the end of the leg should fit neatly into the socket on the pelvis. I think that is the easiest way to discribe it. Annette
