Start slowly. When you first introduce the pup to your cat have the pup on a leash. Treat him and praise him for ignoring the cat or for watching the cat quietly. Do not leave them alone together if the cat can't find a safe place (higher ground) to retreat to if it should beceome necessary. Some dobes have tremendous prey drive and cannot be with small animals, others will curl up with kittens and help the momma cat clean them.
