I had no idea you should have Cavalier's heart checked every 6 mos. My girl is 2.5 yr. old and appears very active and happy. She came with a three yr. guarantee. I will have her heart checked immediately but another thing she is doing that concerns me greatly is "fly catching". She doesn't do it all the time but occasionally. I have read that can be linked to the spine problem. Any thoughts on this? Can a regular vet check this out or do I need a specialist? Someone said that an MRI is the only way to tell if that problem exists and I'm wondering if that's true?

9/17/10 Checking so often is riduculou. If you are going to breed a dog they should be checked before breeding and if you are deciding if you should keep or sell off a dog in a breeding program you should check them often. About "Fly Catching" http://www.cavalierhealth.org/flycatchers.htm Sandy
