Yes they do, but not as bad as a short haired animal, brushing them is a must. They don't loose tons of hair, however they do shed more in the spring. Because they loose their winter coats, We groom ours daily just because they sit on your lap. The minute you TRY to sitdown they are right there with you, we just brush them while we watch T.V. hope that was helpful to you

Cavaliers have a single layer coat instead of a double layer like most breeds. Therefore, they have less hair to lose and a once a week brushing, especially ears, is sufficient. They do not need to be professionally groomed.
