11/30/06 No tri-color collies are not all sterile. It is possible that the breeder performed an early spay/neuter on this puppy which can be done at 8 to 11 weeks of age. If this puppy was purchased as a "pet", then the breeder may have spayed her already because they didn't feel she was breeding quality. It is also possible that she has a thyroid problem. Thyroid problems can lead to delayed season or irregular seasons. If that is the cause, she should be spayed to not perpetuate this problem in the breed since it tends to be genetic. It is also possible she is a late maturing line and may not come into season until 18 to 20 months old. If anything, you should take her to your Veternarian to see if she has some other reporductive problem. There are many factors that can lead to sterility, like burcellosis, which is a virus and will cause any dog she comes into contact with a become infected and sterile as well and can also be zoonotic and infect people, vanginitus, bacterial infec Marla

If your serious about breeding her, then you should have a very good working relationship with your Vet, as well as make sure she is a collie with the genetic health that should be passed on to future generations.
