We are looking at purchasing our first hunting dog. My son is 17 a farmer down the road has puppies chesepeke crossed with lab. I also have a 5 year old grandson what kind of personalities do chesepekes have with children? I am not familiar with this breed. amyjobgen@jobs4teens.us

2/3/07 I have seen a few mixed pups before and chesapeakes are great with children, but I only deal with pure bred chessies. WHen you start crossing you get different traits out of them. If you get a cross people think you get best of both, but more times than not you get worst of both. I say investigate breeders and gofrom there. If this is going to be a hunter and companion, you want certain guarantees. I would also start out with a female Robyn Robyn

2/4/07 some traits in a chessie dont fit well with folks who have not had this breed before. your best source of information is in research. some people think that a chessie is head strong and "stubborn" when in reality, they require a strong willed person to train them. please do your research when it comes to this breed. Labs and chessies are totally differnt breeds. best of luck, stephanie Stephanie
