A Visitor asked the following question on 4/27/2005
we have all our bassetts in a large 1/4 area, when one of them come pretty close to birthing we seperate and put the mom in the birthing box. She howls and cries constantly, being away from all her friends. I am afraid she may get so upset she will lose her pups. (She cried all nite last nite and it's an awful sound too) I am at odds of what to do...any suggestions? (Bassetts are extremely family orientated)

9/17/05 Hello! I know its been a long time since you asked this, but I'd thought I'd reply anyways. When I separate my Sally from all of my other Bassets, she goes in the spare bedroom and I sleep in with her and continue until her pups are 2 weeks of age. By then she is commfortable enough to be left alone and I'm certain no pups will be pancakes by then as well. Hope this helps. Take care, Gena @ www.mypuppylove.net Gena
