I have heard of Back-breeding , But I do not truely understand it. I need to know if it is a good thing or a BAD thing to breed an offspring with it's sire??? I baby sit Bassets that I sold
several years ago and I am worried that one of the females will go into Heat and I still own the Sire for these females. Jane Kilgore

I would not recommend it. It is a form of inbreeding and could double any genetic problems.

I would definelty not recommend it. This is a form of inbreeding and would double the risk for any genetic problems, and could cause birth defects.
