my bernese dog keeps scratching certain areas on her body until hair is gone and its bloody. what can I do? Any advice?

Is the area wet and sticky? if so that is a hot spot and needs to be dealt with. If you are sure it isn't fleas..? Then I would look to the food you feed. If there is corn and wheat in the food it could be allergies. Dogs just like people can develop allergies to wheat, gluten and yeast. I would also start adding salmon oil capsules and vitamin "E" to their diet. Human grade is fine. 400 UI of each. Processed food is badly lacking in oils, what we all need for skin and hair. A lack of which will cause drying and itching.
