A Visitor asked the following question on 7/30/2005
We work for the fire dept. (24 hrs on and 48 hrs off work) i work some 16 hr days. is it ok for them to be outside if they have shade and plenty of food and water,or do they need to have access ( a doggy door into the house)

A Bullmastiff can be kenneled, But NOT tied out. They need plenty of water and shelter. I would not leave them open to the house until they are at least 18 months old though..... that is asking for problems. If you are going to leave them for 16 hours, you may want to think about two or getting another compatible companion for the Bullmastiff.
