which would be the best dog for me a bullmastiff or a english mastiff as i want one that is powerfull and would protect my family but is also not lazy and likes exercise

As it's been sometime since you posted your question,maybe you've already decided on which breed you would prefer.However,of course Bullmastiffs being my breed,I would have to say that in my opinion the Bullmastiff is very loyal and protective and maybe somewhat more agile and active than the bigger,heavier English Mastiff.
