Hi. I am considering breeding my beautiful female only once when she reaches the age of two. I have read many articles and a book that all seem to indicate first time moms tend to have C-sections or could abandon their litter. Does anyone know if this information is correct? Thanks.

5/30/07 Bullmastiffs are known for a higher C-section rate than other large breed dogs. I have not heard of them abandoning the pups. What some breeders will do is dab vanilla on the moms nose and the back of the pups when they foster puppies so if you find that after a c-section the mom is abandoning the pups you could try that trick.
