We have a 6 month old female GSP. Considering buying a playmate for her while she is still young. Would a Beardie cope with this?

Beardies usually adore having another dog to play with. I would recommend that you wait until your current puppy is at least a year and well on her way to bonding with your family and having basic house manners and training before introducing another puppy. If a sufficient amount of time is not allowed for the first puppy to grow up, the two puppies may tune out the humans and get into much mischief together.
