are these dogs a member of the pitbull family?

4/6/05 Yes and No. Pit Bulls and AmStaffs used to be the same exact dog. AKC, however, was afraid to have a 'pit bull' in their registry, so they changed the name to Staffordshire Terrier. From then on, the AmStaff began to change slightly in size, head shape, and small details because breeders were wanting different things in their dogs than in the normal Pit Bull. Pit Bulls are USUALLY slightly smaller and the head shape is just a little different. Pit Bulls are less bulkier and slimmer than the AmStaff. Disposition in both dogs is the same, if raised properly. Teri
