The dog described above is sold for the sum of $_______. Payment is to be made in full upon taking possession of the puppy or when arrangements are made for cropping and/or flight. A $300 deposit will hold a dog. The deposit is non refundable unless the contract is voided by the breeder.

Conditions and Guarantees of Sale

Your puppy is AKC, American Kennel Club, registered and can ONLY be registered with AKC in the United States, or CKC, Canadian Kennel Club, if residing in Canada. This puppy may not be registered with any other registry including, but not limited to CKC, Continental Kennel Club, APRI, American Pet Registry, Inc., and ACR, American Canine Registry, DRA, Dog Registery of America. If the puppy herein described in this contract is found to be registered other than solely with AKC at any point and time in the lifespan of said dog, there will be a 5,000.00 penalty payable to the breeder, immediate relinquishment of said dog and return of AKC papers back to breeder.

The buyer is to have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian of their choice within 1 week (7 days) of delivery. The written results of this check-up must be received by the breeder, by mail, within 2 weeks (14 days) of purchase or any and all health guarantees become void. If the dog is found to be other than healthy by the buyer’s vet, it shall be returned to the breeder immediately, and the purchase price of the puppy only will be refunded. A written declaration by a licensed, board certified vet must be presented with the dog. The deadline for this refund is 3 weeks (21 days) of receipt of puppy. The breeder guarantees the dog to be healthy at the time of sale. The breeder will not be liable for expenses as a result of any treatment required by the pup after it leaves here. The breeder will not be liable for shipping costs to return the pup to the breeder under any circumstances.
All appropriate shots for the pups age have been given and a record of this vaccination history is supplied including worming and flea control schedule at time of purchase.

If at any time in the future the Buyer decides to re-home the dog, she/he must offer the dog to the Breeders to re-home. If the dog is placed with another breeder approved owner, that person or persons are equally bound by and must agree to and sign this contract and must be so advised and so agree before any transfer of ownership may take place. Such offer of first refusal shall be in writing (email OK) and ALSO BY TELEPHONE. Seller will have 7 days to accept offer. All returned dogs must be accompanied by AKC papers and medical records. If dog requires medical treatment during or immediately after repossession, all costs involved will be the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer will not sell, give or otherwise transfer puppy without giving seller right of first refusal. Under NO circumstances shall dog be taken to an animal shelter, humane society, animal testing facility or released to a rescue group.

This contract stipulates that the puppy shall be spayed/neutered between the ages of 12-18 months, and proof there of will be sent to breeder within 30 days of alteration. I understand that it is the Breeders’ policy to issue Limited Registration AKC papers which prevent any future offspring of this dog from being registered with the AKC unless specifically reinstated by the Breeder.

Responsibilities of the Owner

1. The buyer agrees to maintain the dogs health in good condition, and to provide yearly vet exams, heartworm preventative, flea control and any other usual procedures to assure good health. The buyer agrees to provide a suitable and safe area for ths dog including a fully fenced yard, to feed a premium quality ADULT dog food and a primarily indoor housedog lifestyle. Puppy is not to be raised as a yard/outdoor dog. Not to live in a kennel nor a crate but rather to spend its life in the company of humans in the home. Crate training is acceptable but the dog is not to spend more than 8 hours per day in a crate in order to ensure proper growth and structural development.

2. It is the responsibility of the owner to have the pet spayed/neutered between 12-18 mos. of age and proof of such sent to the breeder within 30 days of surgery. I understand that it is the Breeders’ policy to issue Limited Registration AKC papers which prevent any future offspring of this dog from being registered with the AKC unless specifically reinstated by the Breeders..

3. This puppy is being placed as a companion only, never to be bred and registered with AKC under Limited Registration. The only way limited registration can be changed is by the breeder after all health certifications, as outlined by the GDCA have been passed and certified with OFA/Penn Hip/CERF, as well as a visual inspection by the breeder to verify that said dog is of breeding quality. If limited registration is lifted it will only be with breeder listed as a co-owner for the life of the dog. The contract will then be changed to one of a show quality and all the requirements thereof.

4. Dog is to be fed a proper diet (no more than 24% protein content) no performance or puppy foods. See sellers attached Puppy Feeding Guidelines for complete details. NO MIXING BRANDS OF DOG FOODS!! Very important. You cannot mix a cheap brand of dog food with a premium food to save money, nor can you mix 2 premium brands of food. This causes a serious painful
bone problem for your dog and can be irreversible. Do not supplement with vitamins or calcium with the exception of vitamin C & E. I agree to keep the body condition lean and light, just so I can easily feel the ribs.

5. The parents of your Great Dane have been chosen with good temperament being a top requirement. Because temperament can be greatly influenced by environment, and there is no way to control this environment once the dog has left Danosaur Danes, Breeders retain the right to decide whether to replace the dog because of inherited temperament problems, (i.e.: viciousness or shyness) at their discretion, based on their evaluation of the situation in which the dog displayed unacceptable temperament. If it is reported and confirmed that the dog is being abused or neglected, rights and ownership of dog will automatically terminate and revert back to seller who may immediately assume possession of the dog. Buyer will be responsible for sellers fees and costs involved with repossession.

6. I understand that it is important to properly socialize and expose the puppy to strangers and unfamiliar sights and sounds. I understand that it would be a good idea to enroll in a puppy kindergarten class and a show handling class or obedience training once the puppy has had at least 2 of its permanent vaccinations for parvo virus and DHPd.

7. I will have my dogs hips xrayed and certified through OFA or PennHip when my dog is spayed/neutered and share the results with the breeder within 30 days.

8. The Breeders have also suggested that a preventative gastropexy surgery be performed when the Dane spayed/neutered. I understand that this is the best option at present for prevention of GDV (gastric dilatation volvulous or bloat). The Breeders have also explained the cost of possible emergency bloat surgery and I can and will see that this is performed if it is in the best interest of the Dane.
