Hip Dysplasia - The puppy / dog is guaranteed to be free of lameness due to crippling hip dysplasia for 2 years. This is not a guarantee of perfect hips radiographically, but a guarantee of functional soundness. Method used to examine hips should be the Penn Hip method (which can be done as early as 4 months), with results sent to the breeder. No other method will be accepted, unless stated and signed, by writing by the breeder. Penn Hip results must state severe or crippling dysplasia for breeder to replace puppy/dog. This guarantee does not cover dysplasia due to injury or improper nutrition or environmental conditions.
25% TO 30% OF A PUPPY HAVING HIP DYPLASIA IS THOUGHT TO BE GENETICALLY RELATED.
That means 70%-75% is the new owners RESPONSIBILITY in the care of the puppy.
• FEEDING A PREMIUM MEAT BASED FOOD (i.e. poultry, lamb ,beef venison )
• PROPER SUPPLEMENTS (i.e. Vitamins E & Mega C, Fresh Factors, NuJoint Plus & NuVet Tabs)
• KEEPING THE PUPPY AT AN IDEAL WEIGHT; NOT FAT. Carrying added extra weight plays a tremendous role in the puppy’s skeletal development.
• MINIMUM EXERCISE FOR THE PUPPY, i.e. NO 5 mile jogs, hikes or even 2 mile hikes or jogging. UNTIL AFTER THE PUPPY IS 18 MOTNHS OLD.
The purchaser must provide proof (i.e. receipts) that the puppy / dog was fed a premium meat based food and was also given the proper supplements in order for any claim regarding the puppy / dog’s hips, to be exercised. If pup has not been x-rayed or diagnosed by the Penn Hip by the time pup reaches 2 years, all guarantees are void.
In order to have the pup replaced, the buyer must do the following:
Have the pup Penn Hip x-rayed by a licensed veterinarian. The diagnosis must state severe / crippling hip dysplasia. The x-ray must be mailed to Penn Hip for grading. A copy of the grade must be mailed to the breeder along with pup's AKSC papers, along with an explanation of the buyers’ intents regarding the pup. Communication must be kept open between buyer & breeder. If the buyer does not wish to keep the pup, he must be returned to the breeder at the buyer's expense. If the buyer wishes to keep the pup, he must have it spayed or neutered and provide a letter of verification from his licensed veterinarian to the breeder. All expenses for the above mentioned procedures are the sole responsibility of the buyer. After all the above procedures have been completed, the breeder will then proceed with puppy replacement. No money will be refunded. Any and all additional shipping charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer. The pup becomes the responsibility of the buyer at the time of sale.
PENN-HIP IS THE ONLY METHOD THAT THE BREEDER WILL RECOGNIZE FOR THE EVALUATION OF THIS PUPPY’S / DOG’S HIPS.
The Show / Breeding Prospect:
The show / breeding prospect is further guaranteed against monorchidism or crpytorchidism (undescended testicles) and an unacceptable bite (i.e. undershot bite). If a show/breeding prospect’s testicles does not descend or the show/breeding prospect has an unacceptable bite, the breeder has the option of refunding the difference of the pet price subtracted from the price that the purchaser paid for the show/breeding prospect. (For example, if the purchaser paid $1,550.00 for a show/breeding quality animal and the price of a pet quality animal is $1,350.00, the purchaser of the puppy/dog who has either an undescended testicle or an unacceptable bite will receive the amount of $200.00 as a refund, to satisfy the guarantee).
The breeder will not consent for this puppy or offspring to be bred without approval from the American King Shepherd Club; and will not consent for this puppy/dog or offspring to be knowingly bred outside the American King Shepherd Club. Violation of this issue would make the purchaser(s) liable for up to $8,000.00 in punitive damages.
A written statement by a licensed veterinarian or a Penn Hip report regarding the hips, will then be reviewed by the breeder’s veterinarian, must support any claim exercised by the purchaser(s). Method used shall be a replacement puppy / dog of equal purchased quality, upon certification of neutering the said puppy / dog, from the next available litter. Purchaser is responsible for any costs associated with the pick up or delivery of replacement puppy. We do not give refunds beyond 6 (six) months of age. The Breeder has no control over this Puppy / dog’s environment after acceptance from the Breeder and therefore does not guarantee continued good health or temperament, after the periods of time stated above in writing.
